Student Advocacy is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to ensure that kids who are struggling in school get on track for school success. Student Advocacy serves over 1,000 children each year, but is still forced to turn many more families away due to the small size of their staff. The proceeds from the Parade of Pets will help Student Advocacy serve the hundreds of more students who still need their help.
The 3rd Annual Parade of Pets will be held at Richard Presser Park/Webb Field on Central Ave in Hartsdale on Sunday, October 12 from 1:00-4:00 PM. Along with games and activities for the whole family, there will be pet contests with prizes in various categories.
They are looking for pet-friendly volunteers to help ensure that the event continues to be a great success. They need help with jobs like set-up, clean-up, contest registration, parking lot attendant, raffle ticket selling, admissions, staffing the bouncy castle, pony rides, various crafts tables and an obstacle course for pets and their owners.
They are also looking for outgoing entertainers! They need mimes, clowns, magicians, jugglers, and even someone to play the part of Scooby Doo (costume will be provided!).

Camp Viva Volunteers Bring Joy to Families Affected by HIV/AIDS
It is not easy living with HIV/AIDS, especially when you are just a kid. But thanks to over 60 volunteers, there is a place where families
affected by HIV/AIDS can relax and be themselves.
Camp Viva is the kind of place where laughter and tears can happen within minutes of each other, and it is the kind of place where life-long friends are made. "Camp Viva gave me the opportunity to really make a difference in a child's life. That's what keeps me coming back as a volunteer every year. It's what we at Viva call the Love Bomb!" said Anthony, who has been volunteering since 2003.
Five Volunteers are still needed to participate in this one-week sleep-away camp. "We have volunteers who have participated every year since camp began 14 years ago. But some of our long-term volunteers were unable to commit to the full week this year due to the start of school." said Robert Cestone, Camp Director.
At this point, they are looking for individuals who would like to volunteer for the week as counselors. Volunteers should be energetic individuals who like to work with youth, have fun, and have a big heart.
Camp week is from Friday, August 22nd to Wednesday, August 27th. There is also a full one-day training and orientation on Saturday, August 16th. Volunteers should be interviewed and have an application completed no later than Thursday, August 14th.
