Resources

There are many national organizations which are full of helpful advice and information. Here are just a few we work with:

VolunteerResource.org
A comprehensive library of resources and effective practices on volunteering and volunteer management coordinated by the Points of Light and Hands on Network.

Energizeinc.com
Coordinated by volunteer management guru Susan Ellis, this website has articles and resources on best practices for volunteer managers including a monthly tips e-newsletter. Also links to book store, conference listings, and weekly feature articles.

Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) has information on many national programs.

    * Senior Corps
    * AmeriCorps
    * AmeriCorps NCCC (18-24)
    * Learn and Serve America

The Resource Center of the Corporation for National and Community Service
While this site focuses on national service programs such as RSVP, it has many resources including a database of 800 effective practices sorted by topic such as education, environment, public safety and volunteer management. Some services are only available to national service grantees, but there are many available to all.

Idealist.org
A resource for volunteer, job, and event opportunities that shares stories on volunteering around the world. There is a fee for some services.
