Court Referrals

The Volunteer Center offers volunteer referral services to individuals who must do community service to fulfill a court sentence.

The Volunteer Center works on the philosophy of repentance and restitution to the community against which the defendant has transgressed, rather than on the concept of punishment. Its' goal is humanistic - to keep many first time offenders charged with petty, non-violent crimes away from the criminal justice system.

Community Service volunteers must disclose the nature of their offense with The Volunteer Center so an appropriate match can be made. Once referrals have been made, the volunteer is responsible for all hours and related paperwork completed to fulfill the court sentence.

If you are interested in learning more about court referrals, please email or call (914) 227-9301.
