  • Monthly reimbursement for travel expense
  • Support of VIP Coordinator who acts as an advocate throughout the internship
Volunteer Interns Commit to...

  • Attend monthly support meetings with fellow interns

Steppingstone Volunteer Referrals
Steppingstone is a referral process for individuals who wish to volunteer at a nonprofit agency but are not yet ready for the full internship commitment of VIP. Applicants for this program may want to volunteer just a few hours a week or sporadically throughout the year.

The Volunteer Center staff will work with each potential volunteer to ensure the individual has several referrals for possible volunteer placements.

Application Process
Individuals in recovery from mental illness may be referred by a mental health professional either from a day program or individual treatment. Once an application is received, the individual is contacted to schedule a personal interview.
